Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seçil Pervane from ROMATEM Ankara Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center stated that oncological rehabilitation is important to accelerate the physical, psychological and social recovery of patients after cancer treatment. "Oncological rehabilitation is a comprehensive therapy approach that helps patients overcome the difficulties they face during cancer treatment and improve their quality of life," said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seçil Pervane.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seçil Pervane said, "Cancer treatment is a physically and psychologically challenging process. Treatment methods such as surgeries, chemotherapy and radiotherapy can cause many side effects such as fatigue, muscle weakness, movement limitations, pain and psychological problems. For this reason, oncologic rehabilitation plays a critical role in ensuring that patients can respond better to treatment and improve their quality of life after cancer treatment."
Strengthens Patients' Physical Health
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seçil Pervane said, "Oncological rehabilitation is a treatment approach that aims not only physical but also psychological recovery. In this context, specially designed exercise programs, pain management techniques, nutritional support, psychological therapy and social adaptation programs are offered for patients undergoing cancer treatment. Treatment processes such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy can lead to muscle weakness, fatigue, balance problems, movement limitations and pain. Oncological rehabilitation strengthens the physical health of patients by offering personalized exercise programs, physical therapy techniques and pain management methods to overcome these problems."
Stating that emotional problems such as depression, anxiety and stress can be seen frequently during the cancer treatment process, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seçil Pervane said, "In the psychological dimension, it is important to provide therapeutic support to help patients cope with this process. In addition, with psychological support, patients' compliance with treatment can also be improved. One of the most common problems following cancer treatment is extreme fatigue. Oncologic rehabilitation aims to increase the energy levels of patients with exercises and rest methods specially designed to overcome this situation."
Rehabilitation Processes Should Be Planned Individually
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seçil Pervane said, "Oncological rehabilitation is aimed at improving the quality of life of patients not only physically but also socially. After cancer treatment, rehabilitation processes play a supportive role for patients to overcome the difficulties they face in their daily life activities.
Each individual's oncologic rehabilitation process needs to be unique. Each patient's response to treatment is different and therefore rehabilitation processes should be planned individually. In this process, modern physical therapy techniques, exercise therapies and psychological support are used together to help patients recover quickly. In addition, regular follow-ups and progress evaluations to improve the physical performance of patients throughout the treatment process accelerate the healing process."
