What is an Early Rehabilitation Device?

The Early Rehabilitation Device is a rehabilitation device that combines three different technologies: table tilt, CPM (Continuous Passive Motion) and FES current (Functional Electrical Stimulation). This device is especially used in the rehabilitation of patients who have lost their mobility and are bedridden. It is a tool that accelerates the treatment process and supports the recovery of patients who require long-term hospitalization as a result of neurological diseases such as Parkinson's, stroke and paralysis.

The device enables early mobilization of patients, avoiding the negative effects of immobility and helping to prevent common complications such as bedsores. This technology is particularly beneficial for stroke patients who want to start physical therapy early.

How does the Early Rehabilitation Device Work?

The device consists of three main components

  1. Table Tilt: By placing the patient in an upright position, this feature prevents positional blood pressure drops (orthostatic hypotension), supports blood circulation and allows the patient to recover faster.
  2. Continuous Passive Motion (CPM): This function allows the joints and muscles to be moved passively, preventing joint stiffness and muscle shortening.
  3. FES Current (Functional Electrical Stimulation): It activates the muscles by stimulating the nerves, prevents muscle atrophy, preserves muscle strength, thus accelerating the healing processes of patients.

The combination of these three technologies allows patients to regain lost mobility early on, while protecting against other health problems caused by immobility.

Situations in which the Early Rehabilitation Device is used

Early Rehabilitation Device is used in the following diseases and conditions, especially paralysis:

  • Stroke (Paralysis)
  • Brain damage
  • Spinal cord damage
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Long-term bed dependency
  • Patients at risk of muscle wasting (atrophy)
  • Patients with joint stiffness and muscle weakness
  • Patients in need of intensive rehabilitation

This device can be used especially in patients who have mobility limitations and require intensive treatment.

Advantages of the Early Rehabilitation Device

  • Early Mobilization: It enables patients who have lost mobility due to paralysis or other neurological diseases to regain their mobility as quickly as possible.
  • Prevents Bed Sores: It prevents bedsores, which are frequently encountered due to immobility, and provides a more comfortable recovery during the treatment process of patients.
  • Improves Blood Circulation: Keeping the patient in an upright position, blood circulation accelerates overall recovery.
  • Prevents Muscle Atrophy: Through passive movement and electrical stimulation muscle strengthening thus preventing muscle loss.
  • Safe and Effective Rehabilitation: By providing effective mobilization in the early stages, it ensures patients recover faster and experience fewer complications.
  • Psychological Support: The process of mobilization improves the psychological state of patients and increases their commitment to the treatment process.
